Pedro Sánchez Called to Investigate Valencia Tragedy

The Popular Party summons Pedro Sánchez and six ministers for an investigation into the recent tragedy in Valencia. This comes as political tensions rise regarding the government's response to the disaster.

The Popular Party has requested the presence of Pedro Sánchez and six ministers from his current government to testify in the investigative commission opened after the tragedy of the DANA in Valencia. The appearance of Teresa Ribera, former Minister of Ecological Transition and Vice President of the European Commission, along with Carlos Mazón, President of the Generalitat and leader of the PP in the Valencian Community, is also expected.

The proposal to summon Sánchez and other government members to the Senate commission has been a topic of discussion for a while. In total, 41 individuals are expected to attend, including seven members of the current government and former minister Teresa Ribera, whom the PP largely blames for the management following the catastrophe.

Ultimately, the decision of the party leadership has prevailed over more conservative opinions, including Sánchez's presence on the list of participants. "While President Mazón has shown willingness to cooperate and has offered explanations from the beginning, President Sánchez has remained distant," commented Alicia García, PP spokesperson in the Senate.

Within the Popular Party, there have been divided opinions regarding Sánchez's summons, with one faction arguing that the president played a crucial role in the initial response to the flood, and another more cautious faction considering his appearance counterproductive, advocating for a focus on more technical profiles.
