Protests for Housing Rights in Valencia

In Valencia, supporters camp at City Hall advocating for housing rights. Pablo Echenique urges the government not to suppress the movement. Police remain on alert as activists demand affordable housing.

The politician Pablo Echenique has expressed his support for the people who have started to camp outside the Valencia City Hall in defense of the right to decent housing. Echenique has denounced the situation where 'four vultures are profiting while people have no home,' calling this situation unjust.

In light of the possibility of an eviction of the protesters by law enforcement, Echenique has warned the progressive government that 'they better not repress.' Sources from the Government Delegation in the Valencia Community have indicated that the National Police would be ready to intervene if the Local Police of Valencia requested it to enforce the public space occupation ordinance.

Around fifteen tents have been set up in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento of Valencia as part of the protest, in a reminder of the 15M movement. The demonstration for the right to decent housing and the limitation of rental prices concluded with this encampment that will extend throughout the day.

Echenique has criticized the government of Pedro Sánchez through social media. Meanwhile, law enforcement maintains a preventive operation to safeguard public order in the area.
