A woman judged in Valencia has confessed to attempting to bribe an acquaintance with 30,000 euros to kill another person to whom she owed 70,000 euros. The plan did not materialize because the individual who was supposedly going to carry out the crime informed the Civil Guard. During the trial in the Provincial Court, it was revealed that the accused persuaded a man to assault the victim's home and simulate a robbery, taking documents that proved the debt with him.
The accused delivered 560 euros as a down payment and initially accepted the proposal to become a hitman, even requesting more participants for the act. However, he decided to reveal the plan at the Civil Guard barracks after doubting whether he would receive the promised sum of 30,000 euros. Despite these facts, the trial did not consider the intent of the accused, although the forgiveness expressed by the supposed victim influenced the verdict. The forgiver, aware of the accused's gambling and stimulant addictions, did not want legal consequences for her.
Due to an incomplete extenuating circumstance based on disorders arising from her gambling addiction and other addictions, the woman has seen her sentence reduced from nine to two years in prison after reaching a judicial agreement. Consequently, she avoids imprisonment, establishing as a condition that she commits no other crime in the next four years and continues treatment at the Addictive Behaviors Unit (UCA) in Alzira.
