The Health Commission of the Legislative Assembly approved the second block of bill 163, which aims to increase the State's contribution to cover the deficit of the Institute of Housing and Urbanism (IVM). This measure has been supported by the deputies present at the session.
According to what was discussed in the meeting, the project proposes to increase the State's contribution to the IVM by 1% of the gross domestic product (GDP) over five years. The deputies believe that this measure is necessary to ensure the financial sustainability of the institute in the future.
During the debate, Deputy GarcĂa stated: "It is of utmost importance that we make these adjustments to ensure that the IVM can meet its commitments and guarantee the stability of pension funds for Costa Ricans".
The proposal still needs to go through other stages within the legislative process before being definitively approved. However, the approval of this second block represents a significant advance on the path toward solving the IVM deficit. The deputies continue to work in search of agreements to achieve a final proposal that benefits both the institute and the population in general.
