Remains Reveal Discovery of Missing Young Woman

Officials in Palma de Mallorca separated more than 60 thousand tons of waste during a month of intensive search. Among this waste, over a thousand bone fragments were found, which were evaluated by the Institute of Legal Medicine of the Balearic Islands. Two of the fragments turned out to be human, and were sent to the laboratory to match their DNA with that of the missing girl's family.

Genetic samples confirmed that these bone fragments belong to Agostina Rubini Medina, bringing the investigation to a close. The Spanish Police communicated that the bone fragments found at a waste treatment plant in Palma de Mallorca correspond to a missing Argentine tourist, Agostina Rubini, 24 years old, who disappeared five months ago.

The young woman, after a night out with friends and in alleged state of intoxication, is said to have fallen unconscious into a garbage container, later being taken by a collection truck to the Son Reus incineration plant. According to the homicide group's investigations, tracking the victim's cellphone indicated her presence in the garbage deposit, in the vehicle, and finally at the treatment plant.

A witness reported seeing the blouse and bag of the missing woman near the container on the night of her disappearance, without hearing screams for help. The National Police halted activities at the incineration plant to search for Agostina's remains in different areas of the site.
